Lower Shore Performing Arts Company presents
The Thin Man M**der mystery April 13, 2024
The Thin Man is a mystery novel by Dashiell Hammett, first published
in a condensed version in Redbook magazine in 1933 and then as a
book in 1934. The novel follows retired private detective Nick Charles
and his wealthy wife, Nora, as they are drawn into the world of crime
when one of Nick’s previous clients, Clyde Wynant, disappears.
Instead of finding him, they find M**der victims who appear to have
been killed by Wynant. Nick isn’t convinced, however. Nick and Nora
eat, drink, and detect their way through Prohibition-era New York to
solve the mystery of Wynant’s disappearance.
The Thin Man follows ex-detective, Nick Charles, and his
sophisticated, glamorous, wealthy wife, Nora Charles, on their
escapades to unravel mystery wherever it may lie by sleuthing and
solving murders. They were billed the "happiest married couple in
radio," and it is easy to see why as they continually flirt affectionately
with each other. Follow along as a cast of mobsters, an ex-wife,
daughter and excentric son, the M**der victim’s mistress, and
assorted other characters, plot and connive against one another. With
old time Foley sounds. The radio series was modeled after the film
series which was based on the 1934 Dashiell Hammett novel. The
audience will participate in solving the mystery.
