Coincidentally, all the musicians are instructors and therefore, familiar with the mentorship philosophy of jazz. Many of the songs the quartet features are originals by leader/
pianist Mboya Nicholson. The priority is creating melodies that not only resonate, but remain in the ear. Nicholson is heavily influenced by the timeless quality of standard songs, regardless of era. It is timelessness he strives for when composing. And it is a special treat to hear great musicians perform the works.
