? Mayor Jane's Tree Giveaway ?

You're invited to Mayor Jane's Tree Giveaway, a special initiative to enrich our community's green spaces and promote sustainability! Mayor Jane's Tree Giveaway is an exciting opportunity for City of Tampa residents to receive free saplings of select tree species. Hosted by Mayor Jane, this event aims to empower residents to help expand Tampa’s urban tree canopy. The event is one of the programs that contributes to the city’s Trees for Tampa goal of planting 30,000 trees by 2030.

  • City of Tampa residents are invited to pick up a FREE tree during Mayor Jane's Tree Giveaway!
  • The City of Tampa is providing trees to the community to support Tampa's urban tree canopy.
  • 3-gallon potted trees will be available.
  • Up to two (2) free trees per household.
  • Trees are not guaranteed. Limited quantity available.

<h4>ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS</h4>

Residents must live within City of Tampa limits to be eligible for up to two (2) free trees per household; and must be prepared to show proof of residency. Please visit http://tampa.gov/City-Limits to verify.

Residents must come prepared to safely transport a 5-8 feet tall tree in their vehicles. Staff will be on-site to help load the trees. We recommend arriving prepared with a blanket covering the bed of your car/truck where the tree will be loaded.

The goal is to move vehicles in and out as quickly as possible so please come prepared.

Tree Species:

Native and Florida-friendly tree species will be available. Residents will choose their tree species on-site. Please note, there is no guarantee which species will be available at the time of pickup. Potential species include:

  • Southern Live Oak (Quercus virginiana): Large Canopy | 60-80ft Height | 60-120ft Spread
  • Red Maple (Acer rubrum): Large Canopy | 60-75 ft Height | 25-35 ft Spread
  • Longleaf Pine (Pinus palustris): Large Canopy | 60 -25 ft Height | 30-40 ft Spread
  • Simpson Stopper (Myrcianthes fragrant): Medium | 20-30 ft Height | 15-20 ft Spread
  • Yaupon Holly (Ilex vomitoria): Small Edible | 15-25 ft Height | 15-20 ft Spread
  • Red Mulberry (Morus rubra): Large| Fruiting Edible | 15-70 ft Height | 35-40 ft Spread

PLANTING AND SAFETY DISCLAIMER

Read before you dig! April is Safe Digging Month. We recommend calling 811 before you dig to ensure you are planting your tree safely and effectively.

PLEASE NOTE: Trees need to be planted 10 feet from underground utilities such as water and sewer and should not be planted within 30 feet from above-ground electrical lines.
