About this Event
The night is an eye, both dark and bright! It forces us to look up and ask ourselves questions about our place in the Cosmos, our origins, and what is beyond the horizon.
Using spectacular visuals and stunning sound, tour six ancient Mayan temples.Along the way, dive into Mayan knowledge of the sky exploring the importance of the movements of the Sun, the Moon, and Venus. Find Balam the Jaguar constellation and explore how the Mayan’s created a calendar more accurate than the one we use in modern times. Journey back in time to explore how the Mayan’s used the sky to understand their world and their place in it! After the fulldome program, discover how even the North Star is not a constant but 'wanders' over thousands of years of time with a live starball presentation from our Planetarium Educator.
Program length is one hour.
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before show time, because late arrivals may not be seated for safety reasons in our darkened planetarium.
If you are not already familiar with the location of the planetarium, please be sure to understand our location using the map here on Eventbrite or here: Planetarium location in Google Maps For our public programs, you will be able to park in the I-37 parking lot off of Iroquois Drive directly next to Buffalo State University's Science and Math Complex which houses the planetarium.
