About this Event
We invite your 9-13 year olds to join May’s discussion of our new Keeping It Real book club!
How will a summer camp friendship translate to middle school? Why are other people’s parents so weird? (Why are our OWN parents so weird?!) Can kids really do anything about book bans? Can kids with different opinions really ever be on the same page?
Book Warriors unite for Same Page, written by Elly Swartz, beloved author of Hidden Truths! Meet Bess Stein, who is more than ready to be 6th grade class president. She’s got tons of ideas – including a book vending machine – and with her new friend June as vice president, together, they’re unstoppable! But when the books the girls want included in the vending machine come under fire, Bess is stunned. How can one person believe they have the right to decide what other people can read? Parents get involved and now everything's a mess. Bess and June sort out middle school, friendship, and standing up for their ideas.
Parents are welcome to stay on the junior side or browse the adult side. Parents of children 12yo and younger must remain on-site at OTB.
Buy your copy of Same Page by Elly Swartz at the shop or online and note "book club" to get 10% off.
