Explore the world of Fairies and Forest Folk this May Half term.Fairies and forest folk trail – Saturday 25 May to Sunday 2 June – Go on a fairy trail adventure this half term. Discover evidence of fairies and find out which magical forest folk dwell at the Museum.
Knucker the Dragon Family activities – Tuesday 28 May to Thursday 30 May – Make Fairy wands and peg doll forest folk at the Creation Station, learn about Fairy folklore and make seed bombs at the Investigation Station, and play our Knucker the Dragon marble game at the Games Station.
Kamishibai theatre and storytelling with Dawn Nelson – Monday 27 May, Wednesday 29 May, Friday 31 May – Join storyteller Dawn Nelson for Kamishibai theatre in Walderton House. Using a little wooden theatre and paper slides, we will explore the hedgerows where the fairies dwell, dance, feast and learn their lore. Discover how Shenkin lost his gold, how Oisin became the last of the famous Fianna warriors and why you should never make a pact with a hedge elf. Storytelling sessions are at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
Model houses and train set – Monday 27 May to Friday 31 May – Adrian is bringing his model train set and you can have a go at making and decorating cardboard houses to display along the tracks or take home with you.
There will also be 'Have a go at' activities with our volunteers around the site.
