Please join us for for our May 14 chapter meeting in the Library of the Parish Hall of St. Mark's Episcopal Church at 6:30-8:30pm. Our speaker is Eric Martinez (he/him), Executive Director of Mano Amiga, a Texas-based 501c3 nonprofit that works with central Texas communities. Their mission is to organize alongside marginalized communities directly harmed by immigration or criminalization between Austin and San Antonio by advocating for transformation to immigration, criminal legal, public health, and safety systems. Alongside the Mano Amigo team, Eric led San Marcos to have Texas's first and only cite & release ordinance and the first-ever repeal of a police contract in the state. They recently secured a preliminary injunction for public access to bail hearings with potential implications statewide. In his free time, Eric enjoys time with his partner, coffee, and playing with his pug named Pancake. We will have conversation and support group time after our speaker, and, as always, snacks.
