Program:

The Bassoon Trio of Tucson will play works by Julius Weissenborn, Gotthelf Heinrich Kummer, Henry Purcell, Eugène Bozza, Enrique Granados, Duncan Stubbs, and Paul Simon.


Xiao Wang and Yang Zhou's performance will include works by Jacques-Féréol Mazas (1782 – 1849).

Performer Notes

Robert Williams

A native of Tucson, AZ, he graduated with honors from the University of Arizona and did post graduate work at the University of Southern California. He was the Principal Bassoonist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Winnipeg Symphony, Winnipeg CBC Orchestra. He also appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra and the Boston Symphony as well as guest artist engagements throughout the United States.

He taught at Wayne State University in Detroit and the University of Michigan. He edited the complete works of Julius Weissenborn for bassoon and piano. His recording of these pieces is available on Amazon.con. He also recorded the “Five Sacred Trees” by John Williams with the Detroit Symphony.


Peggy Dudley

Was born in Detroit, Michigan. She completed her Bachelor of Music from the University of Michigan and her MA from Manhattan School of Music. A scholarship gave her the opportunity to study at the “Hochshule für Musik” in Munich, Germany. After her first job as 1st Bassoonist of the Philharmonic Opera Orchestra in Nürnberg, Germany she became Solo Bassoonist with the Radio Orchestra of Hessen in Frankfurt, Germany and later the Assistant Solo Bassoonist of the Hr Sinfonie Orchester/Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. Along side being active as a teacher, she has performed as a soloist and with chamber music groups in the USA, South America, Asia and Europe.


Daniel Hursey

Born in Florida, he received his Bachelor of Music from Florida State University and moved to Tucson where he earned his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Arizona. He was principal bassoonist of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Bassoon of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. Since living in Tucson he plays regularly with the Tucson Symphony, Sierra Vista Symphony and the Tucson Pops Orchestra. 

He is currently on trial for the Principal Bassoon

position in the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the Luft Bassoons, a Bassoon quartet based in Tucson.


Yang Zhou is currently completing work for a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Arizona focusing on the violin duo pedagogy of Mazas.

Xiao Wang is a graduate student studying violin at the University of Arizona.
