Thank you all for coming out to my studio yesterday! My heart is filled. Connecting with new friends, collaborators, world travelers, and supporters, walking this life journey with me is everything.

This year, on Mother's Day and weekend, I honor those who support us, those we care for, and the gift of the families we were born to and chose.
Being a parent and part of the Artist/Parent/CaregiverATX group brought me to Good Dad Studios. I am delighted to celebrate and amplify this community of artists who carve out time to care for their artist selves while holding space and caring for so many others.
This Mother's Day weekend, I hope you show some love for those who have cared for you and for yourself. You deserve it, too.

A Mother's Day Story
While standing next to me looking at my work at The McNay Museum of Art (my first museum exhibit), my eldest pointed at one of my paintings and stated, "I don't recognize this as your work." At this moment, I was struck by how becoming a parent had changed me. These vast, open, stunning, turbulent skies and waters apes I paint have been more than a witness to my life and growth as a mother. They have been my shelter, companion, and unspeakable comfort when I needed cradling, space, support, and love in my new role as a parent/artist.
Thank you to my mom, Kathy; her moms, Helen and Tillie; her grandmother, Mary; my dad's mom, Pauline, her mom; my grandfather's mom, Adelaide; my mama Leah, my dear mother-in-law Judy, and my sister-in-law Mindy, who helped me learn how to care for my infant son, the incredible caregiver maestros/maestros at Escuelia Del Alma, Mary, Suzan, and Rosita, for your gifts and grace, and for collectively showing me the path to mother I wish to become.
