A practical soldering workshop where you will perfect the basics and progress to more technical skills, and learn why you should use them.
About this Event

Who would suit the Maximising Soldering Skills course?

Are you responsible for loom building, re-work and repair? Would you like to improve your soldering skills? Then this level 2 course is for you!

Maybe you're looking to progress your career? This course can also be counted towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Overview

We deliver a 'no-nonsense' approach to practical soldering training. We get straight into the skills and techniques you can use every day, whilst explaining the background theory (we won't spend hours covering industry codes of practice, instead we will jump straight into practical soldering skills) This is a well rounded course that will allow you to approach your own soldering projects with confidence.

This hands on workshop covers a lot in a single day, just a few examples:

  • Re-visiting soldering fundaments and honing the basics
  • Understanding wicking, wetting, flux, desoldering, tip selection, temp settings etc.
  • Learn how to identify and avoid soldering mistakes
  • Through hole and surface mount techniques

Covers a wide range of techniques, far more than just a simple soldering course. We are highly confident you will leave with more than just improved soldering techniques.

Prerequisite skills:

Whilst no prior soldering experience is required, experience of general bench-top and detailed manual work is strongly advised to get the most from this workshop. A good level of manual dexterity and close up eyesight will be required.

**The workshop involves working with hot equipment, a safety briefing will be given.

Tools

We provide all of the equipment on the day and where possible we will guide you on affordable and effective equipment. This means you can setup your workplace or race truck with solder kit that wont break the bank!

Who runs the course?

WireTrain courses are run by real world engineers and technicians with decades of experience in the motorsport field.

Certification

You will also receive a WireTrain Training Certificate of Attendance that you can provide to your employer as part of your personal CPD, within 14 days of completion of the course.
