The Fine Arts Center hosts what promises to be a spectacular performance as part of UMass Amherst's weeklong celebration of the late jazz legend, civil rights activist, and UMass faculty member Max Roach. Drummer/bandleader Makaya McCraven leads a spectacular band in a musical celebration of Roach to mark the hundredth anniversary of Roach's birth. Trumpeter Marquis Hill, saxophonist Greg Ward, and bassist Junius Paul will be among the band members joining McCraven to pay tribute to Roach, whose contributions to the arts and the university include transforming UMass into an international center for jazz education.
