Following the thread of the album, we invite you to come sing with us! Together, we will journey into a prayerful space of connectivity, belonging, and storytelling through melody—exploring rhythm, dynamics, and learning to live within the song. Led by Max Ribner, participants will also have the opportunity to join voices during the evening’s performance.
Opening: Freedom Family Band
Matt and Katt of The Freedom Family Band are thrilled to open the evening! Their music weaves together influences of medicine music, praise and worship, reggae, rock, folk, and R&B. With roots in both Southern Africa and America, their story is unique—expressed through original songs, cover mashups, and improvisational moments.
Katt and Matt offer more than a performance; they create a family-friendly space that invites audiences to embrace the freedom of their voices, bringing deep love and fostering intergenerational healing. When you experience their music, it is not just a show—it’s a deep prayer that touches the heart and soul.
About Max Ribner
How do soulful music, spiritual connection, and community service intertwine?
This question lies at the heart of Max Ribner’s artistry—an international touring musician, Berklee College of Music graduate, and virtuoso flugelhorn player, known for his work as a composer, musical director, and community collaborator.
Max’s music is rich, reverent, and intimate, honoring the legacy of musical ancestors while embracing a modern, fusion-inspired approach. His sound has brought him together with artists like Esperanza Spalding, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Ahlay Blakely, Rising Appalachia, Trevor Hall, and Liv Warfield (Prince), among many others. His debut solo album, 1st Language, unites over 50 artists in a cross-continental collaboration—a musical call for unity and collective humanity.
Born in the coastal town of Westerly, RI, Max’s passion was ignited when he discovered the trumpet, thanks to his father. This sparked a lifelong commitment to using music as a tool for community impact, supporting youth programs, schools, prison outreach, and clean water initiatives in Ghana’s Adzokoe Peki. Central to Max’s journey is a deep connection to First Nations, honoring the land and integrating its teachings into his creative process. Over the past two decades, he has been guided by elders and the elements, whose wisdom has profoundly shaped his ability to bring people together through the transformative power of music.
With the unwavering support of his parents and the kinship of his two brothers—one who mentored him on the land, the other a fellow musician—Max’s family remains a foundational pillar, and his gratitude lives on.
