This is the second of a monthly series of meetups focused on the creation of music and multimedia art using the software Max by Cycling ‘74.
These events feature talks and performances from people who use Max, plus free time and space to learn, patch, and hang out with others who love computer music and art.
This event is free and welcomes people of all skill levels, experiences, races, genders, sexual orientations, and nationalities.
This month’s theme is Audio to Video / Video to Audio.
Cameron Daniel Johnston will demonstrate a system he has developed to seamlessly transition among jitter patches in a live context. Cameron provides visual accompaniment to music performers at live events and uses a unique jitter patch tailored to each musician’s sound. This system was born from his need to be able to run all of the patches within a unified environment and transition gracefully between them.
Eric Lennartson will introduce us to the practice of oscilloscope art, also known as vector synthesis. Oscilloscope art revolves around the mesmerizing graphics produced by the oscilloscope, which is a scientific instrument that visualizes audio signals.
