Please join the Historical Society of University City at the St. Louis Art Museum for a lecture on Max Beckmann in University City.
This will be presented by David Conradsen who is the Brumbaugh Curator of Decorative Arts & Design at the St. Louis Art Museum.

Since arriving at the Museum in 1994 he has curated a range of exhibitions on European and American decorative arts. He has helped to build the collection’s current strength in objects of the American Arts and Crafts movement, including more than two dozen ceramics made by the faculty and students active in University City, Missouri. This was the subject of the 2004 exhibition and catalog, “University City Ceramics: Art Pottery of the American Woman’s League.” Since 2014 the tiled Frederick and Agnes Rhead Fireplace, one of the Museum’s ceramic masterpieces, has been a focal point of the permanent installation of UC ceramics in Gallery 332, which we will visit to see the current installation, featuring a number of recent acquisitions and loans.
