Join us at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, for Maundy Thursday Worship at Holy Comforter Lutheran Church. All are Welcome! Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday, is the night of The Last Supper, the meal Jesus shared with his friends before he died. For Christians, it is one of the most sacred nights of the year. Maundy is from the Latin word for "command," referring to Jesus' commandment to "Love one another." Jesus demonstrated what it means to love and serve one another by the humble act of washing his disciples' feet. This is also the night Jesus shared bread and wine with his friends, asking them to "Do this in remembrance of me" after his death. Shortly thereafter, Jesus was betrayed and arrested. Accounts of The Last Supper are found in all four Gospels (Matthew: 26:17โ30, Mark 14:12โ26, Luke 22:7โ39, John: 13:1โ17:26). The story of Jesus washing his disciples' feet and the new commandment to "love one another" appears only in the Gospel of John. READ: John 13: 12-17.
