Empower Yourself at Mattix Academy: Women's BJJ Self-Defense Classes
Join us at Mattix Academy for our Women's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Self-Defense Classes, where strength meets strategy in a supportive environment. Designed for women of all skill levels, these classes are perfect whether you're a beginner looking to learn the basics of self-defense or an experienced martial artist aiming to refine your skills.
- Open to the Public: Our doors are open to women, members and non-members alike. While Mattix Academy members enjoy complimentary access as part of their membership benefits, we warmly welcome non-members for a nominal fee.
- Support a Cause: By participating in our classes, you're not just investing in your safety—you're also supporting a vital cause. All proceeds from non-member fees go directly to The Lioness Instincts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women through personal defense, career development, and financial health programs.
Class Information
This class will be focused on stand up defense movements such as proper falling and standing up, understanding balance, exploring the pocket, and takedowns from various angles
There are two options to purchase a ticket:
- Single Admission Ticket $35
- (2) Admission Tickets $50
Due to space capacity, we are limiting to 16 individuals to provide best instructional assistance while drilling and performing the techniques. If tickets are sold out, check out the upcoming events page for future.
Agenda:
- 8:45-9 am: Check-in, Sign Waive, Networking
- 9 - 9:20 am: Warmups
- 9:20-10:10am: Technique + Drilling
- 10:10-10:30: (OPTIONAL) mats available for additional practicing
What to bring?
- Comfortable workout clothes
- Water
Key points to know:
- Shoes are not worn on the mat. You will be barefoot.
- Water and poweraid available for purchase.
- A waive will be required for you to sign before getting on the mats.
- No shoes are allowed on the mats. When you enter, please place your shoes on the shoe racks in front of the mat.
- Carry your shoes with you if you use the restroom. To maintain clean mats, we ask all students to wear shoes while using the restroom, then take the shoes off to walk on the mats
- The techniques we will teach will have you falling on the floor and taking you out of your comfort zones. We will have instructors on the mat to ease any discomfort.
