Matthew Robinson plays blues and swing, perfect for dancers. One of Austin’s original bluesmen, he started on Austin's Eastside when he was a kid, playing with Dr. James Polk, W.C. Clark, Blues Boy Hubbard, etc.. His signature guitar sound and celebrated gutsy gritty voice are trademark sounds in the Austin music scene.
A native Austinite, Matthew won Austin Blues Society’s Lifetime Achievement award and represented Austin for Blues Foundation's "International Blues Challenge."
Matthew was lead vocalist for the legendary “Dr. James Polk and the Brothers” with WC Clark, Angela Strehli, and Martin Banks. As lead singer for The Mustangs, Matthew opened for Jimmy Reed, James Brown, Big Mama Thornton, Johnny Winter, etc. His band, “The Texas Blues Band” headlined in the UK, Holland, Brazil, and Japan.
