About this Event

Matthew Presidente

A maestro on the piano, a master on the mic, Vancouver’s Matthew Presidente is a bold rock/pop songwriter. His music’s honest queer perspective invokes nostalgia, small town memories and challenges you to reflect on an exciting journey of self discovery.

Referred to as “one of — if not — the best singer/songwriters our LGBT scene has” by Xtra Magazine (Vancouver), Matty has performed among headliners such as Ace of Base, Dragonette and even shared a stage with Patti Smith (it’s a story)! He’s showcased his original material at notable music venues such as The Roxy, The Railway Club, The Backstage Lounge, XYYVR and Numbers Cabaret. An advocate for queer art, he has been enthusiastically recognized on the Vancouver Pride stages, across the country, and internationally. Most recently he toured the mountains of BC for Peak Pride spreading queer entertainment through the province.

Catch this special show at The Chapel to see Matthew solo at the grand piano, debuting songs from his upcoming album. This intimate performance will include some surprise special guests!

The Chapel

Located in a recently restored heritage bulding (St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church), The Chapel is an intimate space perfect for happy hour, live music, poetry readings, and small gatherings.

On the corner of Nelson and Burrard, we're right in the heart of Downtown and the West End. Look for the glowing pink doors behind the 2/44 bus stop on Burrard St.

This fall we're hosting live music, pop-up, happy hours on select Fridays. Join us for wine, beer, and light snacks after work or before heading out for the night!

Doors open at 6:00pm, with live music starting at 6:30pm. Last call around 9pm.

This event is being held on the stolen, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. As we live and organize space as settlers on these lands, we have an obligation to continuously work to repair harms perpetrated upon Indigenous communities, presently and historically.

Oppressive attitudes and behaviour -- including but not limited to misogyny, transphobia, racism, fatphobia, cultural appropriation and ableism -- are not welcome here - this is a brave West End space.

Accessibility:

There are 16 steps to the main entrance and an accessible entrance on Nelson St. (please note if this is needed in ticket add ons). The washroom is single-stall, all-gender, with additional gendered washrooms as needed.

Tickets:

With a mix of high and low top tables, there's a spot for everyone. Reserve a whole table to have it to yourself or just book one ticket, sit next to someone new, and make friends.

Covid-19 Info:
