Town & Gown Players presents MATT & BEN, an award-winning absurdist, comedic take on the origins of Good Will Hunting, by Mindy Kaling and Brenda Withers, as part of their Second Stage selection on February 27th and 28th and March 1st at the T&G Theatre on Grady Street. Starring actual besties and Town & Gown regulars, Helen DeMott and Rebekah Kenerly, Matt & Ben depicts the Hollywood golden boys – before J-Lo, before Gwyneth, before Project Greenlight, before the Oscar… before anyone actually gave a damn. When the screenplay for Good Will Hunting falls into their laps, the boys realize they’re being tested by a Higher Power.
Exploring themes of friendship, personal ambitions, and shared dreams, Matt & Ben presents an honest and hilarious depiction of the most famous bromance in Hollywood! Come embrace your inner frat boy. Let’s have some fun!

Town & Gown Players is proud to be one of the oldest all-volunteer community theater companies in Georgia. Since 1953, our members have been volunteering their time and energy because they believe in producing great entertainment. Each season, T&G’s six Mainstage shows are comprised of four plays, (from classics to world premiere), and two musicals. T&G’s Second Stage focuses on newer and more experimental productions, often with an emphasis on community engagement. T&G encourages all members of the Athens community to participate in live theater — as actors, volunteers, and audience members — and invites all community members to come see what they are all about.
