Rock The Vote NZ present Matiu Te Huki for a special night of community, where he will weave together empowering, insightful, unifying and positive korero with his uplifting, joyful and thought-provoking music.Currently on a North Island tour, many will know Matiu from the 2022 Wellington protest, where he became a prominent figure onstage, bringing people together with songs and music and imparting his inspiring message of positivity and co-operation amongst all those at Freedom Village.
Matiu will take us on a special, curated journey of where we've come from, where we are and how he feels we can powerfully move forward.
As a musician, Matiu’s ability to powerfully connect with and lift a crowd with his powerful stage presence is mesmerising. Looping live, Matiu's soulful roots music has a strong Maori flavour, using haka, chants and traditional Maori instruments, backed by grabbing grooves, deep, beautifully crafted bass lines, funky rhythms and magical melodies that stay with you well after the show ends, all held up by a pillar of Pacific passion and top-class technical precision
As a composer, the soul stirring messages in Matiu's music are positive, inspiring and unifying. Matiu intuitively nurtures a deep connection with his audience creating the energy that opens portals of paradise.
Matiu’s unique life path of growth-driven learning and cultural immersion, a calling for music and leadership, mixed with a desire to engage and share with vastly varied communities, whilst holding passports to many alternative realms, have moulded Matiu into a man ready to stand and deliver – his way.
