Matilda is a musical with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by Dennis Kelly. It is based on the 1988 novel Matilda by Roald Dahl. The musical's narrative centers on Matilda Wormwood, a precocious five-year-old girl with the gift of telekinesis, who loves reading, overcomes obstacles caused by her family and school, and helps her teacher to reclaim her life.This Swamp Fox Stage production runs Feb 12, 13, and 14 at 7pm in the ARHS auditorium.
Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. You can purchase tickets online or at the door; student tickets are only available at the door.
Matilda was first commissioned and produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and premiered at The Courtyard Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, England on 9 November 2012.
It transferred to the Cambridge Theatre in the West End of London on 25 October 2011 and received its US premiere at the Shubert Theatre, New York City on 4 March 2013.
