Vi glæder os til at invitere til Matilda the Musical, hvor børnene tager magten over deres egen historie og vælter scenen med forrygende sang- og dansenumre.
Denne legende opsætning af Roald Dahls børnebog blev en overvældende succes ved premieren på Malmö Opera og præsenteres nu på Det Kongelige Teater med et stærkt hold af voksne og børn på scenen.
Matilda er et klogt, modigt barn, der elsker bøger. Matilda er så klog, at hun som fireårig har læst alle børnebøger på det lokale bibliotek, hvor hun også fortæller den gamle bibliotekar sine egne fantasifulde eventyr. Da Matilda begynder i skole, læser hun bøger af Dickens og Thomas Mann og synes, det er helt normalt. Hendes selvoptagede forældre synes bare, at hun skal droppe bøgerne og se tv. I skolen oplever hun de store elevers tyranni og ikke mindst den skræmmende rektor Trunchbull, der hader børn. Matilda får en allieret i lærerinden frøken Honey og beslutter sig for at kæmpe imod alle uretfærdigheder.
Hun opdager, at hun besidder overnaturlige kræfter og gør frygtløst oprør mod de onde voksne og skaber en børnerevolution!

Matilda the Musical er en co-produktion mellem Malmø Opera og Det Kongelige Teater. Forestillingen havde Skandinavienspremiere pa Malmø Opera i 2019.

A long-awaited reunion with Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book staged as a sweeping musical for young, older and grown-up children at the Old Stage.
We look forward to welcoming you to Matilda the Musical, where children take control of their own story and topple the stage with sensational song and dance acts.
This playful staging of Roald Dahl’s children’s book, which achieved overwhelming success when it premiered at Malmö Opera, is now presented at the Royal Danish Theatre by a compelling on-stage team of grown-ups and children.
Matilda is a wise, brave child who loves books. Matilda is so clever that at the age of four she has read all the children’s books at the local library, where she has also shared her own imaginative tales with the elderly librarian. When Matilda starts school, she reads books by Dickens and Thomas Mann, believing this to be perfectly normal. Her self-absorbed parents just think she should shelve the books and watch TV instead. At school, she is exposed to the tyranny of the older pupils and not least the creepy principal, Trunchbull, who despises children. Matilda finds an ally in her teacher, Jennifer Honey, and decides to take up the fight against all injustice. She discovers that she possesses supernatural powers and becomes fearless in her rebellion against the evil adults, creating a children’s revolution!

Matilda the Musical is based on the novel Matilda by Roald Dahl, represented by My Music Theatre International, MTI.
Matilda the Musical is a co-production between the Malmö Opera and the Royal Danish Theatre. The Scandinavian premiere of the performance took place at Malmö Opera in 2019.
