HappyPlace Productions announces auditions for Matilda the Musical on January 17 and 18. Performers ages 7+ are welcome. Audition location 2nd floor of the Monroe County Labor History Museum
Be prepared to sing, dance and do some reading from the script.

January 17:
4:30pm-7pm performers from age 7-13
7:15pm-9pm performers from age 14-adult
January 18:
2:00pm - 4:00pm performers from age 7-13
4:00pm - 6:00 pm performers age 14-adult
January 18 and January 19
7:00 pm Invited callbacks (most will not need to attend both)
Please prepare 16-32 bars (1-2 minutes) of a musical theatre song that demonstrates your singing ability. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring your sheet music.
There will be a short dance taught at auditions; no prepared dance is required. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes to dance in.
Callbacks January 18 at 7:00 pm
If you are cast there is a $50 cast fee. Cast/parent meeting will be Tuesday, January 21st at 6pm followed by a read thru until 8:30pm. Additional rehearsal information will be passed out at that time.

"Matilda The Musical is based on the beloved children's novel by Roald Dahl. It tells the story of an extraordinary little girl named Matilda, who has a brilliant mind and a vivid imagination, but is underestimated and mistreated by her family and headmistress. Despite this, Matilda uses her intelligence, wit, and a hint of magic to stand up for herself and her classmates, ultimately changing their lives."
Character Descriptions:
Matilda Wormwood: An imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched.
Agatha Trunchbull: The tyrannical headmistress at Matilda's school who despises children.
Miss Honey: Matilda's kindhearted teacher. She is tired of living in fear under Miss Trunchbull.
Mr. Wormwood: Matilda's uncaring father. A slimy, greedy used-car salesman.
Mrs. Wormwood: Matilda's self-absorbed, negligent mother and an amateur ballroom dancer.
Michael Wormwood: Matilda's older brother. He is not very bright and favored by their parents.
Mrs. Phelps: The kindly librarian who loves hearing Matilda’s stories.
Bruce: Matilda's classmate. He is subject to extreme punishment by Miss Trunchbull.
Lavender: Matilda's classmate and friend.
