In recognition of Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month, please take a moment to imagine if mental health complications weren't stigmatized in our culture. Imagine the security in a new mother knowing that her sad or anxious feelings are common and treatable. Rather than blaming herself and hiding her inexplicable sadness, she would feel empowered by her knowledge, and seek help.Mother-Wise is working hard to break the stigma of maternal mental health complications. Individualized peer support, an incredible online community of fellow LC moms, and fun weekly in person groups ensure that moms, and the babies who depend on them, don't fall through the cracks.
Maternal mental health complications can happen to any mom and they are more common than we'd like to think. They can feel insurmountable when faced alone, but we want moms to know they have allies all over Lake County.
Please join us on Tuesday, May 14th at 9am in the Board of Supervisors Chambers for a proclamation naming May Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month in Lake County. Show your support for the moms of our community by being present either online or virtually (Zoom link coming soon!).
