Dr Peter Sjöstedt-Hughes, University of Exeter
About this Event
This talk looks at the historical, political, religious, and
philosophical reasons for the rise in the metaphysical theory that
reality is fundamentally material – materialism – and considers whether
we have consequently, as Edmund Husserl exclaimed, “fallen into a
barbarian hatred of Mind” that is causing not only a meaning crisis for
individuals but also the fragmentation of Europe.
Dr Peter Sjöstedt-Hughes is a philosopher of Mind and Metaphysics,
lecturer at the University of Exeter, and author of books and articles
ranging from nihilism to contemporary psychedelic research.
