UPCOMING WORKSHOP with @lauraesbensen in the setting of SOMA, her current solo exhibition at @corecontemporaryDESCRIPTION:
“Material Metaphor” is a two-hour workshop, open to all skill levels (18 yrs and older). Participants will learn to make an abstract sculpture in three steps: (1) create an armature, (2) vinyl wrap the armature, (3) paint the vinyl.
The goal of this workshop is to focus on the power of material, thinking about wrapping and embellishing as generative, metaphorical acts. Secondarily, the workshop will explore formal qualities of negative space, texture, and sculptural line.
