The FSO’s fourth season opens with some of the most beloved music of all time. Steven Spielberg’s 1975 Jaws is a classic film, and the music is equally iconic, but it is sadly rarely heard live in its original version. This is a John Williams Signature edition, as it was originally recorded. Malcolm Arnold’s Tam O’Shanter is theperfect Halloween scare, as it relays the harrying story by Scottish poet Robert Burn about a poor farmer out on a ride encountering - and then being chased by - a collection of witches! Following the exciting Orpheus in the Underworld Overture by Offenbach, we conclude the concert with Respighi’s mammoth “Pines of Rome.” This is live concert music at its very best.
