Masterpiece Sunday: Cello Solo by Bach, Bloch & Bernstein + visual art

Masterpiece Sunday is pleased to present an afternoon concert dedicated to music for Cello Solo, inspired by J.S. Bach. The concert will be performed and hosted by Israeli Cellist Elad Kabilio.

The program will commence with Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3 in C major. Subsequently, it will feature Ernst Bloch’s Suite for Cello Solo, a work composed approximately two centuries after Bach’s monumental piece.

The program will explore intriguing artistic and historical connections between the works,l and will offer exciting pairings of movements with contemporary abstract visual art by Rothko, Richard Serra, René Magritte, and others.

The program will conclude with the rarely performed meditation by Leonard Bernstein for Cello Solo.
