Description
Learn how to master skin tones in oil paint with portrait artist Alison Schuchs! In this class, you’ll learn Alison’s techniques for understanding skin tone and color theory. This class is perfect for beginners and experienced painters alike. If you’re struggling with capturing likeness or painting skin tones, this is the class for you.
The morning portion of this class (10am – 12pm) will be a lecture-style presentation where students can engage in meaningful discussions about the principles of portraiture. Allison will share the tips and tricks she uses for every portrait – skills she wishes she had known as a beginner!
at 12:00pm, class will take a break to each lunch together and get to know one another. (Please make sure to bring a lunch with you!)
After lunch, students will spend the rest of class painting a beautiful portrait from start to finish, with Alison guiding them along the way.

Instructor Bio
Born in the Scottish Highlands, this self-taught artist began painting as a form of grief therapy and has since flourished into a portraitist using traditional oil techniques. Her work captures both the beauty of human expression and the unique charm of the Lone Star State. Now residing in Corpus Christi, Texas, she can often be found painting at The Art Center of Corpus Christi, The Art Museum of South Texas and K Space Contemporary Gallery. Through her art, she weaves stories of resilience, heritage, and connection, celebrating her roots and her adopted home.
