ABOUT DAVE
Dave Eastgate is an award-winning actor, writer, stand-up comedian, musician, dancer, and stunt performer who began his comedy career in improv.
He is best known for his supporting role of ‘Mick’ in the 2019 Netflix smash hit, Ronnie Chieng: International Student and and for his portrayal of cancer patient, ‘Joey’, in Channel 9's critically acclaimed drama series, Doctor Doctor, for which he received a Best Supporting Actor Logie Nomination in 2017. Most recently in 2024, Dave played the supporting role of ‘Dazza’, in Arj Barker’s Feature Film Debut, Nut Farm.
In 2022, Dave appeared alongside Bryan Brown and Greta Scaachi in Darby and Joan for ABCTV, and opposite Kate McKinnon and Kyle McLachlan, in the NBC/Stan series, Joe vs Carole. Other acting credits include the multi-award-winning Netflix comedy series, A Moody Xmas and its sequel, The Moody's, for which he won the ‘2015 Equity Award for Most Outstanding Ensemble - Comedy Series’; as well as Comedy Channel’s Open Slather, ABC TV’s The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting, Hiding, Maximum Choppage, Soul Mates, and Channel 9's hugely successful comedy, Here Come The Habibs.
In 2019 Dave cemented his triple threat status in the principal role of, ‘Ken Blundell’, in the Australian Tour of Muriel's Wedding the Musical and backed it up by collaborating on and starring in Kate Miller Heidke’s multi award-winning musical comedy Bananaland, which was the headline show at the 2023 Brisbane Festival and 2024 Sydney Festival.
However, it's Dave's unique brand of stand-up comedy and rock n' roll cabaret that has brought him the most acclaim, with sold-out shows at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, tours in the UK and US, and TV appearances in New Zealand and Japan (in fluent Japanese).
Dave has been a regular headliner in comedy clubs and festivals all over the world since 2007 and has appeared on ABC's Tonightly, Comedy Channel's Stand-Up Australia and also, Just For Laughs at the Sydney Opera House. In November 2016, Dave recorded his first one-hour televised comedy special, I Wish I Had A Band, at Sydney's Enmore Theatre for ABC's Comedy Next-Gen Series.
Although, none of that beats sharing the stage with Robin Williams at a small comedy club in Kings Cross in 2010, but that's another story!
Dave's “side-hustle” has been as a TV audience warm-up artist. Beginning with the original Big Brother in 2006, Dave has kept crowds entertained between filming on X Factor, The Voice, AGT, So You Think You Can Dance, The Masked Singer, Australian Idol and almost everything in between.
