Wil Foster, founder of Rock Candy Photo, is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the fashion and music industries. Known for his visceral, emotionally charged work, Wil brings a punk rock ethos to photography—eschewing rigid studio norms in favor of raw, in-the-moment storytelling.
His approach is instinctive and immersive, often compared to that of a combat photojournalist. Favoring small kits and unconventional tools, he captures intimate, unguarded moments that many photographers never reach. This stripped-down, “run-and-gun” style gives his work a unique intensity and authenticity.
Wil’s foundation in traditional art disciplines fuels his obsession with line, shape, composition, and contrast. These classical principles underpin his bold, contemporary visual language. Nearly a decade ago, he transitioned fully to a Leica system, a shift he credits with crystallizing his signature style.
