Masterclass with Kelsey Paschich - Countertechnique
Join Crossroads Dance Indy and Kelsey Paschich for a Countertechnique® Masterclass!
Countertechnique® is a movement system that equips dancers with tools to meet the physical and mental demands of contemporary dance. Through a clear structure of exercises, it helps dancers integrate information into action, improving strength, flexibility, and spatial awareness. By directing body parts away from each other, it fosters dynamic balance, reducing strain and encouraging risk-taking, efficiency, and agility.
About Kelsey:
Kelsey Paschich is a multi-disciplinary dance artist blending traditional dance with emerging technologies to explore innovative performance modes. With over 20 years of experience, she has performed internationally with companies such as Moscow State Classical Ballet, Thodos Dance Chicago, ARCOS Dance, and Lawine Torrèn, and worked with renowned choreographers like Robert Battle, José Limón, and Ann Reinking.
Paschich holds an MFA from the University of New Mexico, a BFA from Point Park University, is a certified Countertechnique® teacher, and is Assistant Professor of Innovation in Dance at Western Michigan University. She has taught globally, including in France, South Korea, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, and across the U.S.
As a choreographer, she merges dance with AI, motion capture, and film to explore the relationship between body and technology. Her work has been presented internationally and recognized with awards such as the WMU Presidential Innovation Professorship and the Creative Living for Dancers Award. Her recent solo, Trio of Duality, premiered at the Seoul International Dance Festival in Tank.
