About this Event
Masterclass: Kek Lapis Compost

In this 2-hour masterclass, we will learn the fundamentals of ecological gardening, and how adding living compost to soil ecosystems is essential for a healthy world. 'Kek Lapis' composting is an approach inspired by the aerobic thermal composting method, our regional food, and the plentiful compostable ingredients in our neighbourhoods. We will savour kek lapis and tea while socialising and learning in a private garden, where a family has made compost with kitchen scraps from their neighbours.

Your trainer: Compost Pui

A compost artisan, Cuifen draws inspiration from observations, learning about the soil food web, and interactions with like-minded peers. She divides her energy between probono projects (Boon Lay Nature Garden and Project Black Gold) and knowledge-sharing workshops through Food Citizen Pte Ltd. Cuifen's compost-related experiments and workshops have sparked initiatives at various locations, including Bukit Gombak Park, Gardens by the Roof, Jurong Central Park, Jurong Lake Gardens, and Jurong Regional Library. She advocates for individuals to take climate action where they live.
