Four-Year Training Program in Psychoanalysis
The Training Program in Psychoanalysis is a postgraduate 4-year course of study in comparative psychoanalysis, both theory and practice. The training program coursework takes place in various Boston-area offices on Fridays from 11:00 am–4:30 pm over 24 weeks: 12 classes in the Fall and 12 classes in the Spring. Personal analysis, three supervises analytic cases, a final project, and several additional courses are required for graduation.

Stechler Child and Adolescent Therapy Fellowship
The Stechler Child and Adolescent Therapy Fellowship is a one-year training program for early to mid-career mental health professionals interested in psychodynamic approaches to child and adolescent psychotherapy and for experienced professionals seeking to expand their work. The fellowship has 24 sessions, meets on Monday evenings, and covers the major topics in child and adolescent psychodynamic psychotherapy. The fellowship may meet in person or on Zoom in 2025.

Postgraduate Fellowship Program
The MIP Postgraduate Fellowship Program is designed for mental health providers and scholars interested in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and theory. Coursework consists of two closely integrated seminars, one didactic, the other clinical. Both seminars meet on Monday evenings from 7:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. at the Harvard Faculty Club in Cambridge. There are four terms for a total of nineteen sessions, including a final review and evaluation. MIP also offers another Postgraduate Fellowship Program in Amherst, MA, learn more about that fellowship here.
Applications for the September cohort are due May 15, 2025 and are reviewed as they are received. Due to the popularity of this fellowship, we suggest early application.

MEMBERSHIP AT MIP
The Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis (MIP) is a non-profit 501c3 organization founded in 1987 to provide high quality training through a comparative approach to psychoanalysis. We aim to study the history and practice of psychoanalytic thinking from multiple points of view and taught in open, continuing dialogue. MIP operates through the support of our members, and we ask that you consider joining us.
MIP welcomes everyone in the larger mental health and academic community with an interest in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy to join our membership. Our current membership brings together professionals in the clinical and academic community with our psychoanalytic candidates, postgraduate fellows, graduates, faculty, supervisors, and more. We welcome people from diverse racial & cultural backgrounds and gender orientations.
