Students will learn the RPM-30-2-Can Do assessment triage technique, color codes of triage, working through victim scenarios.
“RPM-30-2-Can Do” is a mnemonic device for patient assessment used in the START triage system; that is, it is used to sort patients into categories at a mass casualty incident. The mnemonic is pronounced "R, P, M, thirty, two, can do." R is for respiration, P is for perfusion and M is for mental status.
Students will learn the START Triage System and participate in a mock triage exercise where they will be given the opportunity to properly triage 10 victims of a mass shooting. START is a short hand for Simple Triage And Rapid Treatment.
