About this Event
For early and mid-career choreographers in Los Angeles, spaces that allow for creative process, development, and risk taking are rare. Studio space, especially after multiple studio closures during the pandemic, is expensive and hard to come by. Finding a means to show work as a newer or independent choreographer, an important step in the progression of the "artistic leaders of tomorrow," is out of reach financially and opportunity-wise for many.
Rooted in MashUp Contemporary Dance Company's mission to uplift, amplify, and advance female-identifying artists, MashUp’s Choreographic Residency Program gives an early/mid career female-identifying choreographer the opportunity to create a 20-40 minute work with MashUp company dancers, and premiere it as a work-in-progress to a general public. This is a unique opportunity to experience how dance is made, developed, and presented. Audiences will get to hear from and meet the artist, and a light reception will follow the performance.
Choreographer will be announced in early October, with more performance details to follow.
