A gospel, as ancient and authentic as any of the gospels that the Christian Bible currently contains, was buried deep in the Egyptian desert after an edict was sent out in the 4th century to have all copies of it destroyed. Fortunately, some rebel monks were wise enough to refuse – and thanks to their disobedience and spiritual bravery, we have several manuscripts of The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, which reveals a very different love story from the one we’ve come to refer to as Christianity.
Mary’s gospel says that we’re not sinful; we’re not meant to feel ashamed or unworthy for being human. In fact, our purpose is to be fully human, to be a ‘true human being’ – that is, a person who has remembered that, yes, we’re a messy, limited ego, but we’re also a limitless soul.
A fierce curiosity and an ardent passion to know the truth about Mary Magdalene has led Meggan Watterson to study her gospel and legend at both Harvard Divinity School and Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University. She has also travelled to the south of France several times (and even climbed a mountain to find her mysterious Cave of Eggs) in order to encounter Mary’s story not just from the words in her gospel but also from within her own heart. Meggan is the author of Mary Magdalene Revealed.
This day-long workshop will include:
- a discussion of Mary Magdalene's gospel
- an examination of the secret teachings it contains and how you can apply these teachings to your life today
- an understanding of the authentic power of love and how Mary Magdalene reveals we can each experience it directly from within us
- an in-depth explanation on how to meditate in the way Mary's gospel relates with a spiritual practice called the Soul-Voice Meditation
- opportunities for Q&A with Meggan
