Spend a weekend immersed in nature at Indiana Audubon's Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary (MGBS) during our Spring Open House! Enjoy the perks of membership and explore over 700 acres of forests, wetlands, and prairies, just outside of Connersville.On Saturday, start your day with a guided bird hike at 8 a.m., then spend the afternoon exploring the Sanctuary's diverse natural landscape, discovering its unique flora and fauna.
Brooks Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to noon, offering a chance to view our taxidermy displays and other educational materials. You're also welcome to stop by to become an Indiana Audubon member , make a donation, or receive a complimentary MGBS hiking medallion.
Extend your stay and enjoy free rustic camping on Friday and Saturday nights. We'll provide the campfire wood – you bring the s'mores!
Schedule of Events
- 8am: Migratory Bird Hike
- 9am – Noon: Brooks Hall open for visitors; if weather permits, a songbird banding demo may take place.
Registration is only required for those who wish to camp overnight. If you plan to camp, please register and email [email protected] to confirm your camping plans. Day visitors are welcome to attend without registration.
About the Sanctuary
Located south of Connersville in Fayette County, the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary is a 735-acre nature preserve owned and operated by Indiana Audubon. Established as a living memorial in 1943, the sanctuary has grown through generous gifts and bequests, offering a peaceful retreat for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, open daily from dawn to dusk.
