About this Event
Join Indiana Audubon for an adventure after dark in 2024. Our special night hike series features our great diversity that can be found at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary after the sun sets. Topics include moths, bats, lightning bugs, frogs, owls, and other nocturnal animals.
Throughout 2023, we'll be offering special monthly hikes to explore what makes the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary important for both birds, and other wildlife. You just might find what makes this place special to humans too!
This year's night hikes include:
- February 24 (6pm): Night Hike Under the Full Moon's Glow w/ Libby Keyes
- April 6 (8pm): Timberdoodles and Peepers Night Excursion w/ Dan Barriball
- June 8 (9pm): Moths that Go Bump in the Night w/ Jeanette Jaskula
- August 10 (8pm): Bat Echoes in the Night! w/ Julia Wilson
- October 5 (8pm): The Universe over Mary Gray w/ Laurie Marx
- December 10 (6pm): Owl Prowl Adventure w/ Richard Garrett
Each hike begins at a selected time that aligns with the sunset. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or adult. Each night hike is $5 for Indiana Audubon members (join us at indianaaudubon.org/membership), or $15 for non-members. Youth 17 years of age and under are free. Meet at the trailhead kiosk at the main parking lot. Expect a variety of trail conditions, and some moderate terrain on each 90 minute adventure. Astronomy nights will be more sedentary.
