Step into history and nature on the Mary Gilbert Heritage Walk , a captivating journey through scenic landscapes and fascinating local lore.
Our adventure begins in the picturesque village of South Kilworth , where we’ll head east across the Kilworth Springs Golf Course , soaking up stunning views of the well-manicured greens and surrounding countryside. From there, we’ll join the peaceful Grand Union Canal , following its meandering path into the charming village of Welford .
Here, history comes to life as we learn about Mary Gilbert , the celebrated landlady of the George Inn (now The Wharf Inn) and a pioneering narrow-boat entrepreneur who left her mark on the area.
Continuing westward, we’ll traverse the rolling Hemplow Hills , enjoying panoramic vistas and the tranquil beauty of the Northamptonshire countryside before looping back to South Kilworth .
This walk is a perfect blend of history, nature, and exploration, topped off with a delicious Sunday roast at The Wharf Inn – the ultimate way to relax and refuel after a rewarding journey. �

Please arrive by 9.45 am we will set off at 10 am sharp. If this is your first AG walk, then please arrive nice and early and seek out the walk leader who will be wearing a red "walk leader" pin badge.

� RULES TO KEEP YOU SAFE :
-We walk in all weathers, however, if we have a weather warning then the event may be cancelled. Keep an eye on your emails and the Facebook event page for notifications of any cancellations.
-We will only ever walk in groups of 15 or less. If we have more than 15, we will usually have two walk leaders and walk in opposite directions.
-We supply free sweets at the halfway stage - we call this "squidge and dip" - hand sanitiser, then dip in for your free sweets.
