Step inside the County Hall, the former Coventry courthouse, and return to the summer of 1849 - when this very building witnessed one of the city’s most chilling trials.
Within these historic walls, Mary Ball stood accused of poisoning her husband, a case that shocked Victorian England and ended in Coventry’s last female public execution. Tried here at the Coventry Summer Assizes, her story is one of poverty, passion, suspicion, and a justice system at its most unforgiving.
Join us on a Sunday evening from 6:30 pm. to 8:30 pm for an engaging talk exploring the life, trial, and execution of Mary Ball, told in the exact place where her fate was decided.
