## Marvel Crisis Protocol
## Slice & Dice Neighborhood Narrative League
Start Date: Sept 24th

Length: 6 weeks

Cost: $30 ($5 credit returned for each round you play)
---
The goal of this league is to create interesting, fun, and casual games where the lives of the Heroes matter and maximum playability can be achieved. It’s all too easy to make a tempered list that can handily win at a certain set of crisis combinations. Our goal is to remove some of the forethought (knowing the crisis combos at the outset) and ensuring a more “all-comers” approach to the list.
The league will support both Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. We expect games to be played at both Slice and Dice Locations. The first event will be at Eastside to sign everyone up, but after that you can choose which location. BEFORE YOU JOIN THE LEAGUE: Please be aware it is up to you and your opponent to come up with a location for play. We expect some matches will be at the location farther from you. If you are unable to have some flexibility throughout the league, please consider joining a future location dedicated league or the tournament at the end.
At the end of the 6-week league, we will host a weekend tournament where both players of the league and new players will be able to enter. More on that later.
**Overview:**
In the broadest terms, the format is simple and easy to use (lightweight). Players will make a roster of 10 Heroes, along with a ‘sideboard’ of 5 more heroes. If a hero is KO’d during a game, they will have to sit out at least one game (except 2 threats) to heal and recuperate. The higher the threat, the longer it takes to get their mind right. (Thanos will take a while to re-think his strategy after being beaten up by puny humans, whereas Black Widow is used to taking a beating, getting up and going right back into the fray.)
We will require list (and sideboards) to be submitted prior to the start of the league; however, we are trusting players to manage their KO’s and sideboard additions throughout the league.
Each round (week) the event host will draw an Extract and a Secure Objective for ALL players to use.
**Time Frames/Rounds:**
* League will be 6 weeks starting September 24th.
* Each week will be 1 round, consisting of one match.
* Tables will be reserved at Slice and Dice East and West every Tuesday.
* If you or your opponent cannot make Tuesday, it is up to both players to schedule a time to play at either location. If you text (505)226-5009, we can make sure we set aside a table for you at your location of choice.
* Players have until Sunday to submit results. If not, it will count as a double loss, and no $ credit will be applied. (Remember every game you play; you gain a $5 credit for food or retail purchases)
* New pairings & objectives will be sent to players every Monday. Pairings will also be posted on Best Coast Pairings.
**Terrain**
Both locations have terrain available, however, depending on the size of the league, we may not be able to have full tables for all players. If you have terrain available, it would be greatly appreciated if you and your opponent could use it.

**Tournament Software (Best Coast Pairings)**
We will be using Best Coast Pairings as our tournament software. This will show your pairings as well as lists.
The league will be under “Slice & Dice Neighborhood Narrative League (Fall 2024)”
We suggest you download the app and create a user account. This will give you the ability to join the league and also submit your list.

**List Format (for submission)**
All players will submit a roster consisting of the following elements:
* 10 Heroes – Active at the start of the campaign.
* 5 Hero Sideboard – Replacement Heroes in the case of KOs.
* 10 Team Tactics Cards – Standard BNR rules apply.
NOTE: Heroes in the lists (Both Active and Sideboard) must be unique to the list in reference to Alias names. Only one Black Widow, Peter Parker, or Tony Stark, please).

**Neighborhood Narrative Rules**
If, during a game, a hero is KO’d, they will have to sit out a game (or more) depending on their threat level. After round, KO’d characters will automatically moved to your sideboard.
* Threat Level = Games Missed
* 2 = No Games (Resilient as all heck, those little scrappers!)
* 3 = 1 Game Missed
* 4-5 = 2 Games Missed
* 6-7 = 3 Games Missed
* 8+ = 4 Games Missed
* Voluntary Swap Out = 1 Game Missed
**Sideboard Swap-Outs**
If you feel like your 10 Hero Roster cannot handle the next game or have KO’d characters from a previous round, you can bring in a hero from your sideboard. To do so, edit your roster to reflect the change before you show it to your opponent. Player integrity is vital here in tracking the KO delays and sideboard rules.
1. A hero that is KO’d with gems takes those gems on break with them. You cannot redistribute the gems to other team members.
2. Threat level is the Roster based Threat level, so the Hero Threat plus any Gems added to them.
3. If you have no leadership available due to KO’s, you play unaffiliated.
4. When a Hero comes in from the sideboard, on their first game THEY DO NOT GAIN POWER on turn 1. (The Hero is still getting used to being on the A-Team and is nervous, or jumpy (or Asgardian…)) This applies to the turn 1 power phase only, during activations, they gain power normally.
5. Note that you cannot have more than 10 heroes on your active roster at any time.
6. If you simply want to swap a hero from the sideboard to the Active roster, the hero sent to the sideboard must remain out for 1 game period.
