In many ways, the Martini is arguably the most personal of drinks, with the ability to specify base spirit (gin or vodka), type of vermouth (or its very inclusion), saltiness (brine? and if so, how much?) and garnish (originally cherries, then olives, lemon peel, onions and more). That allows each drinker to specify whether they prefer their drink to be bitter, sweet, sour, salty or umami-influenced.
This masterclass will take you through a journey of the history of martinis. The masterclass will start off with the founding father a Martinez, followed by a classic martini and ending on a vesper or dirty martini of your choice. A chance to sample gin, talk about the history and have a fun and interactive session to learn about, make and enjoy martinis.
