Honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19 at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. The museum will be open special hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed that one day his community and country would be free of racial injustice. At 10 a.m., please join us for a story time from Miss Juneteenth Kansas 2025, Areiana Green! She will read Parker Looks Up: An Extraordinary Moment by Parker Curry and Jessica Curry. Immediately following, join us for a performance from The Ensemble, featuring Dr. Beryl New and her longtime friends, singing a special selection to commemorate Dr. King and his legacy. In the Maker Space from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., join us for a special activity where each child can create dreams for their family, community, and world.
Regular admission applies, which is $11 for children and adults, $10 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Museums for All admission for families receiving WIC or EBT is $3 for children and adults up to six people. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 30,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom and special space for babies and toddlers to explore.
