Business Essentials Series
This event is part of the University of Exeter’s Evolve Futures programme of business support services, products and activities, all fully funded through the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Good Growth Hub and Shared Prosperity Fund.
This programme brings together SMEs, sector experts, researchers and entrepreneurs to support business growth and opportunities through sharing and building best practices around sustainable and inclusive activity, learning about effective and practical business foundations as well as applications of new technologies and innovations and enabling good growth.
Across the series we are looking at a variety of sector specialisms and themes, so check back regularly to see what else is coming up! These events are open to all in the business community but we particularly welcome attendees from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly region who are keen to grow, develop and innovate.
These events aim to:
- Share expertise, best practices and build skills to support company resilience and long-term growth
- Raise awareness and utilisation of new sustainable technologies and innovation practices and how they can be adopted in the real world
- Provide opportunities to network with peers and experts to build community knowledge and valuable connections

This event is aimed at SMEs and early-stage business owners who:
- are interested in learning more about how to ensure their business foundations are fit for purpose and to improve or develop their skills in sales and marketing
- want to be able to build their business revenue pipeline
- wish to develop their network and connections

Chris Lowry & Ryan Tebbs
With over 12 years of diverse new business experience, Chris Lowry, returned to his Cornish roots, bringing with him extensive experience of sales and managing a multi-million dollar global event portfolio in London.
Ryan has over a decade of expertise in high-growth FMCG account management, driving year-over-year growth for prestigious brands in both luxury and mass sectors, achieving double-digit growth and a portfolio exceeding $75M in annual retail sales.
Together Chris and Ryan founded Sell-Smart. The company helps both established and start-ups enterprises by guiding them with go-to-market strategies and identifying where they can add value. They firmly believe in finding market fit for every product, improving processes and embedding sustainability in revenue streams.

Ben Clements
A graduate of the University of the West of England and a winner in the recent “30 Under 30 awards” Ben is the Commercial Manager for Peaky Digital, a full-scale digital marketing agency, working across the country to help businesses get results and get their names out there, particularly online. His expertise helps clients understand their customers and drive growth in competitive markets.

Your details will also be shared with the Growth Hub (CIOSGH) as we are working together to deliver Good Growth Commissioned services to businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
