In an era where divisive headlines dominate the national discourse, "Parables" seeks to humanize the politicized narratives that have come to define our collective American story. This concert program, featuring The Mark Lomax Trio (drummer Dr. Mark Lomax, II; saxophonist Edwin Bayard; and bassist Dean Hulett) and poet/author Scott Woods, combines evocative music with powerful poetry to illuminate the lived experiences behind the vitriolic rhetoric that threatens to consume us all. The work resolves in a blues as a reminder that power is always in the hands of the people.Dr. Mark Lomax, II, is a critically acclaimed composer, recording artist, drummer, activist, educator, and author.
Zach Hannah, the Johnstone Fund’s Poet in Residence, will recite a poem revealing his interpretation of the program.
Admission is free. This performance is part of the “New Music at Short North Stage” concert series. Seating is available on a first-come first-served basis and performances are recommended for ages 9 and older. Parking assistance is available through the ParkColumbus app.
