ENGLISH BELOWJazzkwintet speelt eigen composities en improvisaties
Maripepa Contreras is één van de weinige jazzhoboïsten ter wereld. De hobo is een instrument kenmerkt zich door zijn warme, maar doordringende geluid. En dan heb je de bezwerende improvisaties van Maripepa Contreras nog niet gehoord! Zij is een geval apart op de best mogelijke manier: Spaanse roots, klassiek geschoold, met een jazz-opleiding en met een passie voor Braziliaanse muMziek. Ze presenteert dit bekroonde project (Downbeat magazine) gevestigd in Amsterdam met originele composities waar ze probeer deze klassieke instrument in de jazz wereld te brengen. Dit project is mede mogelijk gemaakt door het Fonds Podiumkunsten.

Jazz quintet playing own compositions and improvisations
There are not so many jazz oboists but Maripepa Contreras is one of the few. The oboe is a wind instrument characterised by its warm and penetrating sound. Well, wait until you hear the conjuring improvisations of Maripepa Contreras! She is definitely something else in the best possible way: Spanish roots, classically trained, with a jazz education and with a passion for Brazilian music. She presents this award-winning project (Downbeat magazine) based in Amsterdam with original compositions.
