Join Julie Silverman, Lake Champlain Lakekeeper with the Conservation Law Foundation, for the final talk in our Spring Speaker Series. Polystyrene foam, a top contributor to marine debris worldwide, is not only found in coffee cups and take-out trays but also in coolers, worm containers, and dock floatation. Its brittle nature causes it to break into countless fragments when exposed to sun, wind, waves, and ice, leading to significant pollution in places like Lake Champlain. With Vermont’s recent ban on toxic dock foam, Julie explores the impact of this legislation and what steps lie ahead.
