About this Event
In my work as a correspondent from the U.S., what I do is try to "explain America to Italy," that is, to observe and attempt to understand what is, on the surface, one of the most recognizable places in the world, because it has been represented in hundreds of films, heard in thousands of songs, and "worn" every time we buy a pair of blue jeans or a baseball cap. It enters our lives every time we eat a hamburger or buy Coca-Cola at the supermarket. We think we know everything about the U.S., and each of us has a very clear idea of what they are, or what we can expect from Americans. More often than not, that's not the case. Since I’ve been living here, one thing has become increasingly clear to me: that socialism, for Americans, is primarily a new idea, increasingly less tainted by the brand of infamy.
