For the first time ever, Houston's Voodoo Society, Societe Bayou Ville, will be displaying their relics, housed at the Houston Shrine of Marie Laveau, at Indigo Moons.
There will be a presentation by members of Societe Bayou Ville, featuring the sacred dance and prayers of the "Action De Grace", the opening prayers to the ceremonies of the spirits of voodoo.
Dr. Absolem Yetzirah, Voodoo Priest, Physician and member of Societe Bayou Ville is an anthropologist and historian. He will give a lecture on the legacy of Marie Catherine Laveau focusing on her legitimate history and her deep impact on New Orleans.
The exhibit will feature three relics
The Mirror: Aquired from the estate of Marie Laveau's daughter in Florida.
The Brick: a portion of a red brick from the original tomb of Marie Laveau.
The Surround: A portion of the fire place from the house on 1022 St. Anne Street in New Orleans.
Refreshments & Snacks will be provided.
